چکیده
Garnet-type solid electrolytes have attracted extensive attention for solid-state lithium (Li) batteries. However, the high processing temperature of up to 1,200°C limits large-scale production. Here, we report a simple approach reduce sintering by using conformal nanoscale amorphous alumina coating. The ceramic sintered at 980°C shows room ionic conductivity 0.13 mS cm?1. It reveals that second phases segregated grain boundaries are ionically conductive but electronically blocking, which can block electronic conduction and improve mechanical property. Li symmetry cells indicate long-term 2,500-cycle life critical current density 0.52 mA cm?2. garnet electrolyte enables high-voltage Li1.2Ni0.2Mn0.6O2 deliver specific capacity 248 mAh g?1 0.05 C. This work provides new clue lowering electrolytes, extend other ceramics toward practical applications.

Low Temperature Sintering Additives for Silicon Nitride
This work deals with sintering additives for the low temperature pressureless sintering of Si3N4, via a transient liquid technique. Much attention has been given to the development of a sintering process using low-cost Si3N4 powder (Silzot HQ, Germany) as the starting material and employing sintering additives which are also both economically attractive and enable sintering at low temperatures....
متن کاملLow-temperature sintering of MnO2-doped PZT–PZN Piezoelectric ceramics
The effect of MnO2 addition on the microstructural evolution and piezoelectric properties of low temperature sinterable PZT–PZN ceramics was investigated. When a small amount of MnO2 (≤0.5 wt% ) was added, the Mn ions were homogeneously dissolved in the PZT– PZN ceramics, leading to full densification at a temperature as low as 930 °C. However, the further addition of MnO2 hindered the densific...
متن کاملLow-Temperature Sintering of Alumina with Liquid-Forming Additives
Simultaneous application of colloidal processing and liquidforming additives to alumina resulted in a sintered density of >99% in 1 h at a temperature as low as 1070°C for a commercial high-purity alumina powder at a total dopant level of 2 mol%. The additives were 0.9% CuO + 0.9% TiOz + 0.1% B 2 0 3 + 0.1% MgO. At higher temperatures or after prolonged sintering, the doped alumina ceramic deve...
متن کاملInfluence of sintering temperature, pressing, and conformal coatings on electron diffusion in electrophoretically deposited porous TiO2
The electrophoretic deposition of nanoporous TiO2 layers allows us to investigate separately the influence of sintering temperature, porosity, and conformal surface coatings on the effective diffusion coefficient Deff of excess electrons in porous layers. Photocurrent transients were measured to obtain Deff in nanoporous TiO2 layers immersed in aqueous electrolyte. The applied treatments contro...

B4C and its composites with TiB2 as second phase continues to be extensively used as the preferred ceramic material in military applications as armor systems for absorbing and dissipating kinetic energy from high velocity projectiles. It also exhibits a high melting point (2427 °C), and high neutron absorption cross section. Pressureless sintering of the B 4C-nanoTiB2 nanocomposite using small ...
